UNICEF Pakistan Country Programme 2018-2022
- A Advocacy Campaign/Project

Key Information
Socio-cultural demand-side barriers combined with economic factors, together drive the education deprivation for certain groups of children in Pakistan, in particular girls. These barriers are further exacerbated by a lack of parental awareness of early learning, importance of on-time enrolment, and the lack of social protection schemes. UNICEF focused more closely on the obstacles to on-time enrolment, retention, completion and transition. By building on best practice experience and incorporating lessons learned from the Every Child in School Programme. The overarching vision of the Education Programme was that by 2022, Pakistan had significantly increased the numbers of children in school and learning at pre-primary and basic education levels, in safe schooling environments, with accelerated progress achieved for girls and the most marginalized, and with education policies, plans and budgets that are more equity-focused. Also, during the 2022 devastating floods UNICEFF supported with innovative solutions such as Gadi (three-wheeler) schools and mobile learning centers ensured continuity of learning and provided a sense of normalcy to children traumatized by the floods.
