- F Funding Initiative/Portfolio
? Activity Status: Unknown
Key Information
The Incentive Fund provides high-performing organisations with grants to improve service delivery and/or provide economic opportunities for the people of Papua New Guinea. It is funded by the Australian Government and began in 2000. The current grant program, Incentive Fund Phase 4, has been reviewed and strengthened by both the Australian and Papua New Guinean governments, demonstrating a mature bilateral relationship between the two countries. Eligible organisations can apply for grants of between K1 million and K10 million, which are awarded through a competitive process. In line with the development priorities of both governments, the current phase, Incentive Fund Phase 4 (IF4), provides support for projects that empower women and girls—80 percent of IF4 grants—and facilitate infrastructural and private sector development—50 percent and 20 percent of grants respectively. Phase 4 projects include pilot projects to develop the domestic rice industry and the construction, furnishing, and redevelopment of health and education facilities and infrastructure. These projects enable improved services and quality of life for many Papua New Guineans, especially women and girls.
