Key Information
Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthaan Yojana is a scheme by the Government of Bihar to encourage girls from this state to attain higher education. The scheme will provide financial assistance to girls from their birth untill they graduate. The program is a holistic scheme, formulated to provide protection, healthcare and education to girls as well as to make them self-dependent. It aims to stop female foeticide and child marriages, improve the sex ratio, and encourage the registration and vaccination of girls. The scheme would be jointly implemented by the departments of social welfare, health and education. Under this scheme, an amount of about ₹ 50,000 (Rupee) will be provided to the girls. This financial assistance will be provided through different installments. About 1.50 ten million girls will be able to get benefits through the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana. Only two daughters of a family can take advantage of this scheme. The students must belong to the EWS (Economically Weaker Section) category. Funds will also be provided by the government to buy sanitary napkins and uniforms under the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana.
