Teen Mothers Programme
- P Project/Program
? Activity Status: Unknown
Key Information
Since at least 2010 the Gender Affairs Division in Sain Vincent and the Grenadines has implemented the Teen Mothers Programme as a way to teen pregnancy emerging as an area of concern regionally. The Affairs divison has worked to ensure that girls who became pregnant while in school received continued, nondiscriminatory access to education. The Government finances the return of teenage mothers to school through the payment of fees, purchase of books, provision of transportation, and the provision of day-care services for babies. The success of this programme has become a regional best practice of UNFPA, as reported on 2010 to the Tenth Regional Conference on Women in Latin America. The Teen Mothers Programme is geared towards adolescent girls that got pregnant and dropped out of school. Provide them with means to get back into school. Therapeutic intervention and cash assistance.
