Safety Nets Project (Jigisemejiri)

  • P Project/Program

I Inactive

Key Information

The objectives of the project are to increase access to targeted cash transfers for poor and vulnerable households and build an adaptive national safety net system in the territory. Additionally, current experience on implementing the subcomponents will be used to increase women’s participation in the program's subcomponents. More specifically,  accompanying measures will be separated from the payment sessions and more information campaigns targeted to women have been tested under the project. A field assessment of current implementation will inform changes in the design to make laborintensive activities gender sensitive. Other topics, such as gender-based violence (GBV) and youth vulnerability risk due to violence and conflicts, will also be introduced through the new package of accompanying measures, in addition to counseling and psycho-social support sessions. This enhanced approach can be piloted in the areas where the Ministry of Solidarity and Humanitarian Action has started developing its local antennae. Through home visits, agents can also identify other poor and vulnerable households that are not currently covered by Jigisemejiri, and therefore, help improve and build up the existing RSU.
