Key Information
Girls Can STEAM Programme aims to provide information about STEAM careers to girls aged 12 to 17, connect them with female role models, and so challenge gender-based stereotypes in career choices. Cultural norms perpetuating the idea that science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics are more suitable for boys, combined with economic constraints, create additional barriers for girls in pursuing their education and career in STEAM jobs/fields. Awareness on gender stereotypes, access to opportunities, implementation of public policies for equality, and information-giving efforts in the field of STEM may contribute to overcome these challenges.
