Key Information

Global School Leaders launched a pilot program in Kenya to train School Leaders to implement strategies focused on re-enrolling girls back into school following COVID-19 closures. The program trains leaders on creating gender-inclusive school and home environments that foster continuous education for girls The program was launched in November 2020 in India and Kenya and will run until June 2021.

GSL has a research component to the project that works to understand:
Does school leadership training specific to promoting girls learning and well-being have an impact on leaders, teachers, and students? How are gender attitudes in leaders, teachers, and students changing? How are learning losses due to COVID differentially impacting girl students? Does school leadership training stem learning loss for girl students?

GSL is conducting this research by surveying, at three intervals, 40 school leaders, 400 teachers, and 800 students enrolled in the program.
