Key Information
The Education Sector Budget Support Programme (SBS) is supporting the improvement of education quality and increased equitable participation in the education system in Zambia through effective implementation of the Government of the Republic of Zambia’s (GRZ) Education National Implementation Framework (NIF) III. The expected impact of the programme is increased achievement in learning for boys and girls by increasing equitable access to quality education and skills training to enhance human capacity for sustainable national development. This impact statement is taken from the Education Sector National Implementation Framework 2011-15 (NIF III) indicating the alignment of the programme with Government’s education priorities. Equity and gender are integrated into all sector dialogue discussions and most indicators are gender disaggregated. In 2015 there was progress on supporting community schools, which service the poorest communities, often in rural areas. The community school guidelines were finalised, as was a lower cost model for school construction of latrines that incorporate menstrual hygiene management; particularly affecting girls’ access in upper primary and into secondary education.
