Advancing Adolescent Girls' Rights
- F Funding Initiative/Portfolio
? Activity Status: Unknown
Key Information
In the US and Global South, we seek to create conditions for positive change for girls. We keep girls at the center, ensuring that their own voices, experiences and aspirations shape the programs meant to serve them. We fund work that transforms from the inside out — a girl's own sense of her future and potential — and the outside in — the systems surrounding her. We support activists, girls and adults alike, who are working towards these changes every day. Underlying all of our efforts is our intention to move girls from invisibility to investment. For most girls, simply being young and female places them at the very bottom of the social hierarchy; race, class, sexual orientation, gender identity, immigration status, ability and other factors can deepen their exclusion. The consequences are global. While the specifics vary by geography, the overall picture is the same: individual potential is unrealized while systemic cycles of inequality persist.
