Key Information
AOD is implementing the Speed School/Accelerated Learning Community Outreach education program. The Speed School program – targets 3300 out-of-school children aged 9 to 14.
ODA has been striving to contribute towards addressing the AYSRH challenges through its school-based intervention where it support interventions including gender-responsive teaching-learning pedagogy, provision of comprehensive AYSRH messages, creating linkages with public health facilities for the provision of youth-friendly SRH services, and engaging stakeholders and the community to address the socio-economic and reproductive health needs of young people. In this regard, schools are supported to implement gender-responsive teaching and learning approaches and comprehensive AYSRH information mainstreamed into the curricula. Public health centers are engaged to provide youth-friendly services and increased community support obtained in addressing the socio-economic and RH needs of adolescents and youth, including girls. The project has renovated 48 sanitary management corners in 24 AYSR intervention schools and constructed 51 youth centers and equipped with necessary materials that enable young people to enjoy reading, playing games, and generate income
