Key Information
The "STIM pour ELLE" initiative, led by the Ministry of National Education and Literacy of Côte d'Ivoire through its Gender Equality and Equity Directorate (DEEG), and supported by the French Development Agency (AFD) via Sovereign Loan, aims to ensure equal access for girls to scientific fields. This initiative arises from the recognition that only 37.07% of girls currently pursue scientific tracks, with even fewer (19.48%) attending the Yamoussoukro scientific high school. "STIM pour ELLE" seeks to dismantle gender stereotypes and inspire young girls to consider careers in science and technology. In line with its core themes of promoting gender equality, eradicating poverty, and investing in the future of women, the initiative has celebrated 32 top-performing female students from across the country, highlighting their academic excellence on International Women's Day. The DEEG plans to further this effort by organizing a STIM caravan and camp to deepen girls' interest and skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), thus fostering a future generation of women innovators ready to drive sustainable development. "STIM pour ELLE" is a key step toward achieving gender equity in Côte d'Ivoire’s scientific sectors.
