Key Information
With the support from USAID and other foundations and private sector contributions, Half the Sky Movement Global Engagement Initiative in India and Kenya is a transmedia development alliance seeking to promote gender equality. This cutting-edge initiative seeks to disseminate Half the Sky Movement’s messages and associated transmedia tools on a national scale, conduct targeted outreach and educational sessions at the community level, and build the capacity of in-country partners to use innovative media effectively in their efforts. More specifically, programmatic objectives include: • Improve public dialogue on key gender-related concerns at a national scale • Develop the capacity of partner NGOs to sustain Half the Sky Movement transmedia, extend learning, and inspire new and innovative uses of media and technology to achieve gender equality • Foster transformational attitudinal and behavioral changes, shifting the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of target audiences and community norms where NGOs have gender-improving interventions • Nurture policy changes by encouraging global policymakers, business leaders, and influencers to advocate for institutional changes to support gender equality.
