Empowering the Vulnerable Communities of Kosovo through Better and Equal Access to the Labor Market
- P Project/Program
A Active
Key Information
The project seeks to empower girls and boys from Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities in Kosovo by equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to transition into adulthood and sustainable employment. Targeting seven municipalities, it directly benefits 12,850 students from 13 lower secondary schools and 13 vocational education and training schools, with a focus on inclusivity. Among the beneficiaries, 60% are girls, 40% boys, and 5% are children with disabilities. Special attention is given to 1,450 marginalized youth through targeted support, such as financial aid, on-the-job training, and awareness campaigns.
By June 2026, the project aims to achieve two key outcomes: ensuring that 1,050 high-risk students from the target communities complete their lower secondary education and enabling 400 youth to develop the skills necessary to access the labor market or further education. To advance gender equality, the initiative tackles barriers that disproportionately affect girls, including early marriage, child labor, and discriminatory social norms. Activities like parental engagement, teacher capacity-building, and inclusive career guidance sessions emphasize the importance of education for girls and boys alike, promoting equal opportunities.
Through collaborative efforts with educational institutions, local governments, and community organizations, the project combines awareness campaigns, financial support, and systemic improvements to foster an inclusive learning environment. This holistic approach ensures that marginalized youth, especially girls, are empowered to realize their potential and secure a brighter future.
