Key Information
Nicaragua Women's Ministry in partnersihp with the World Food Programme created a pedagogical booklet on gender and rights named Woman and Rights Booklet (Mujer y Derechos). This initiative is part of the larger media campaign tittled "Mujeres por la Vida (Women for Life) intends to educate and stregthen knowledge on women rights, public policy, legal tools and current laws implemented by the government, which contribute to the peace promotion and community wellbeing. The booklet informs the public of major laws and legal statues that should guarantee gender equality and the right to exercise political participation and rights. Some laws included are: Law 648 (2008) for equal participation and political rights between men and women; reform to Law 786 for gender parity in local governmental offices; Law 185 (1996) to guarantee the maternity leave and work pay. The booklet also includes games and activities that could be use in other pedagogical spaces.
