Description
AGBEF was created on December 10, 1984 under the initiative of a small group of 28 volunteers, including 13 women, belonging to various socio-professional categories and unanimously concerned about the high infant and maternal mortality in Guinea.
It is a national non-profit NGO and full member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). Created in 1984, it has more than 2,000 members in five branches: Conakry, Kindia, Kankan, Labé and N'Zérékoré). With a staff of 45, it has five model clinics based in each of the five branches.
The Guinean Association for Family Welfare has set itself the mission of ensuring quality sexual and reproductive health services with a view to reducing maternal mortality, reducing and controlling STDs/AIDS, eliminating unsafe abortions and traditional practices harmful to women's health.
It will endeavor to create an environment conducive to the promotion of the rights and responsibilities of women and young people with the aim of obtaining healthy behaviors for controlled fertility and responsible parenthood.
