Description
The Mahatma Gandhi Seva Ashram (MGSA) is an institution for peace and non-violence. Their organizational vision is securing and enhancing land and livelihood opportunities for excluded communities particularly scheduled castes and tribes, minority communities, single women, and people with physical disabilities through democratic accountability, responsiveness and transparency in governance systems.
MGSA aims to build awareness about the rights and entitlements of socially excluded communities and sustainable livelihoods. MGSA enables tribal and Dalit community leaders to participate in local democratic processes to ensure opportunities for excluded communities. They also secure land rights for women, enabling them to be socio-economically independent in their communities and to fight for the rights of tribal, and Dalit people at local, state and national levels. In addition, MGSA provides legal assistance to economically disavantaged people over the matters concerning their rights over natural livelihood resources and matters related to environmental and social laws.
