Description

Grassroots Development Initiatives Foundation-Kenya (GRADIF-K) is a Public Community Development Foundation. It was founded in 2006 with the initial aim to support sustainable development through skills development and working with grassroots structures who  drive development agendas in various communities. The goal of the organization is to support the improvement of life of vulnerable and marginalized community groups including girls, women, youth, and people living with disabilities in resource scarce areas in Kenya focusing on rural arid and semi-arid (ASAL). GRADIF-K prioritizes work in the following geographical regions: Central, Eastern and Rift Valley Regions/Provinces in Kenya.

GRADIF-Kenya is experienced in project implementation in Kenya and has developed healthy working relationships with diverse range of partners, collaborators. To promote effectiveness, wide reach, and sustainability of projects/programs implemented, GRADIF-K works with organized, legally registered community groups including women and youth groups, community based organizations (CBOs), faith based organizations (FBOs), grassroots structures, county and national governments, and research institutions. All GRADIF-K’s programs and projects are geared towards making contributions to realization of the Kenya's Vision 2030 Goals, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Education for All (EFA).

GRADIF-K’s vision is to see an empowered society actively engaging in sustainable development driven by the mission of facilitating the empowerment of marginalized and vulnerable community groups so they can actively engage in sustainable development guided by equal opportunities for all. GRADIF-K holds that systemic and enduring change is possible when communities and development stakeholders are empowered with appropriate information and resources to initiate and drive their own development agenda, actively participating in addressing challenges affecting them through tapping and utilizing locally available resources, working with governments, development partners and other actors to access basic rights and services.
