Description
NVDA was established in November 2000 with its original name of ‘New Vision in Education Association (NVEA)’ and legally registered at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) in January 2000. It has re-registered at the Charities & Societies Agency in October 2009 based on the 621/2009 legislation. The organization has changed its name to ‘New Vision in Development Association (NVDA)’ as of August 2015.
NVDA is a non-for-profit and voluntary organization founded to support mainly disadvantaged communities regardless of the gender, religion and other characteristics. It helps people decide upon matters affecting their own lives. Since May 2019 It has revised its policy (by-laws) which has incorporated the fundamental human rights mainstreamed in all its Core Functions (Program Areas) including children's right to education. NVDA envisions seeing a healthy, economically self-sufficient and literate society that strives to advance local and national development agendas. Its mission focuses on tackling poverty and empowering the disadvantaged groups of the society through promoting Education, Health Care, Sustainable Livelihood and Capacity building programs. NVDA has skilled and well experienced management and staff with as well as well-defined organizational policies and procedures (guidelines). Over the last 20 years of operation, it has been largely working on education focused projects and related interventions that include the establishments of 23 well standardized primary schools in 4 Weredas (Districts) of Oromia Regional State. The schools are serving the community enrolling quite a large number of students to present. NVDA won the 2014 Cup Award provided by Oromia Regional Education Bureau for its outstanding achievement and contribution to the education sector.
