Description

The Comparative, International and Development Education Centre (CIDEC) is a research centre that has three mandates: to promote international, interdisciplinary research at OISE/UT; to incubate new field development projects; and to provide instructional leadership in comparative and international education across OISE/UT. CIDEC is Canada’s leading teaching and research centre in the field of comparative and international education, putting OISE and the University of Toronto on par with similar units at US universities such as Harvard, Columbia, and Stanford, and the Universities of Stockholm, London and Hong Kong, among others. All of CIDEC’s activities directly support the University of Toronto’s commitment to enhanced inter-disciplinarity and internationalization and CIDEC continues to play a critical role in the development of a thriving community of practice in the field of comparative, international and development education at OISE. In 1998, CIDEC became the institutional home of the Collaborative Degree Program in Comparative, International and Development Education (CIDE). CIDEC's mandate is to promote excellence, collaboration, and innovation in comparative and international educational research at OISE. The CIDEC community includes over 50 faculty members, adjunct faculty, and visiting scholars. More than 120 graduate student researchers with an interest in international issues and comparative methodologies in the field of education are affiliated with the Centre.
