Mexico's National Strategy for the Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy or Estrategia Nacional para la Prevención del Embarazo en Adolescentes – ENAPEA, aims to reduce the number of teenage pregnancies, aligning with a human rights agenda, particularly along sexual and reproductive rights. Among its specific objectives are: a) to contribute to human development and broaden the employment and educational opportunities of adolescents in Mexico; b) to promote an enabling environment that favors free, responsible, and informed decisions by adolescents about their sexuality and pregnancy prevention; c) to ensure effective access to a complete range of contraceptive methods, including long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs), to guarantee free and informed choice and male responsibility in sexual activity; d) to increase demand for and quality of sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents; e) to guarantee the right of girls, boys, and adolescent population to receive comprehensive sexuality education in all public and private education management levels.
