Key Information

The Support Program for the Continuity of Learning in Emergency Situations (PACASU-TUBARAMIRE) main objective is to ensure the continuity of inclusive and equitable education in emergency situations with a view to ensuring that every child has the right to education regardless of the context, time and circumstances, to stimulate innovation, help the government to build back better and participate in a better integration of children into the education system. The program will ensure access of children who are internally displaced (IDP), repatriated, returned and victims of natural disasters to education and will aim to: (1) Guarantee 180,000 children (including 91,800 girls) of school age (3-16 years), affected by population movements and other shocks, and host populations equitable access to quality inclusive education adapted to their needs socio-emotional and (2) Strengthen the capacities of 3,000 education professionals in ESU. The program implementation strategy will be aligned with the education sector strategy as described in the 2020 Humanitarian Response Plan document, and it will revolve around access to formal or non-formal education with aims to consolidate the right to education for all school-age children and equip them with key skills in survival and risk reduction strategies. Strengthening the protection of children against the abuse and trafficking in human beings that school drop-out can cause will be at the center of the program's interventions and particular attention will be paid to access to education for girls, in particular those living in displaced families, for whom the gap in schooling compared to boys remains significant in certain areas.
