Key Information

The overall objective of CPESG is to improve learning outcomes and develop greater self-esteem, confidence and life skills in 10.500 girls in Chitral and Diamer districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan respectively. CPESG works with upper primary and middle school grades in Chitral government schools and in home primary school for girls in Diamer. Activities include setting up girls' clubs or committees, life-skills training, mentoring schemes, health check-ups & nutrition sessions; providing learning resources and additional help for those more academically able; holding sessions with and training parents and community members, including men, religious leaders and boys; gender sensitivity workshops; working with the community to identify barriers and solutions to girls' education and providing flexible response funds to do so; forming mother support groups; setting up advocacy campaigns; developing/adapting materials and resources using a gender responsive lens; and training head teachers, government officials and teachers on gender responsive schools and pedagogy as well as education communities of practice. The above activities are intended to lead to the outcomes of improved equitable access to quality education opportunities for girls; a reduction in the social, cultural and economic barriers faced by girls in accessing, staying in and succeeding in education and improved quality and gender-responsiveness of educational leadership, teaching and learning.
