Key Information

For the Luxembourg Cooperation, programme BKF/018 is innovatory in many ways. On one hand, it underlines the repeated interest for the Vocational Training sector in Burkina Faso. On the other hand, the programme includes a new approach supporting Burkina's national policy by which it will be enabled to put its own strategy into place. Furthermore, it is a harmonized effort between multiple donors, in this case the French and the Austrian Development Cooperation. Programme BKF/018 will strengthen the capacities of the national vocational training institutions through technical assistance which intends to support a whole array of disciplines: general management, human resources management and curriculum development to name a few. The programme started in 2012 and has so far supported the training of 11,500 young people in qualifying modular training courses by the end of 2016, some of whom have entered the Certificate of Professional Qualification. For its last year, it is planned to train an additional 21,500 people, bringing the final number to 33,000. In 2017, the national programme also provides for the development of about 20 training and certification standards, especially in the fields of agriculture, livestock and building construction.
