Key Information

The development objective of Higher Education Development Support Project for Côte d'Ivoire are: (a) improve higher education management; (b) increase enrollment in professional programs; (c) improve the quality and labor market relevance of degree programs of participating public tertiary institutions. 1) The first component, Strengthening Tertiary Education Management, aims to support the government as it modernizes governance of tertiary education by giving individual institutions higher level of autonomy. It has the following subcomponents: (i) Supporting the establishment of a Performance-based Contracts system of sub grants; (ii) Reinforcing Education Sector Management Capacity; (iii) Establishing a new Quality Assurance System; and (iv) Project Management. 2) The second component, Enhancing Short Duration Professional Programs, aims to make short duration tertiary programs more effective in order to help increase graduate employment. It has the following subcomponents: (i) Creation of Higher Institutes of Professional Training and Technology; and (ii) Reviewing and Upgrading Higher Technician Certificate. 3) The third component, Enhancing Graduates’ Employability in Public Universities and National Polytechnique Institute Houphouët-Boigny (INPHB), aims to help public tertiary institutions make the transition to the LMD system and support measures to enhance the quality and relevance of their programs. It has the following subcomponents: (i) Improving the Quality and Relevance of Public University Programs; and (ii) Upgrading the INPHB.
